the 2010 and 2011 Xperias use a different 3.5mm standard OMTP instead of the most popular CTIA, you can buy an adaptor and see if that solve your issue

SONY Misdirection as to HEADSET compatibility...

ref: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/faq/xperia-acro-s/getting-started/why-is-my-wired-headse...

"There are different standards for wired portable headset devices. Some headset manufacturers use OMTP. Your new Xperia phone requires the newer CTIA standard."

ref: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/31455

Johan tries to explain it, even with a diagram...

"There are two major standards out there for headsets, OMTP and CTIA. Sony Ericsson phones follow the OMTP standard"

ref: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/326494

"the 2010 and 2011 Xperias use a different 3.5mm standard OMTP instead of the most popular CTIA"

So, which is it guys? Use the wrong one and damge can result in some instances.

ps: would love to change my user name to "Harry IS Happy" but alas not just yet.

Harry's ISSUES

  1. Headset selection, either within Sony lineup or 3rd party.

Simple solution is the 'endorsed' badge of compatibility to go on Sony AND 3rd party products.

IF YOU LIKE THESE IDEAS PLEASE COPY AND POST EVERYWHERE, THEN SONY MUST TAKE INTEREST OR WE WILL LOOSE INTEREST AND SHOP FOR OTHER BRANDS.

Thank you
