Here's how to root, before anyone else links you to their own threads for vanity purposes, its much better just to post a link directly.
Use the latest version (15), it has fixes for devices with lag after rooting
If you need to flash ICS firmware manually, follow the instructions here:

These steps are advanced, will void your warranty (unless you live in the UK) and you are liable for any damages caused to your device.
i live in INDIA..

Well your local laws will apply. I only mentioned the UK because consumer laws are better here than dome countries.
Thanks for ur link...
im happy to know should i have any drivers like drivers for pc before i run this rooting process...
bro im waiting for ur reply..
nah, u need ICS and B4nary's code only I think. But why do u want to root?
I rooted my Xperia U using b4nary's root, and I did it only for Avast antitheft app that comes with avast antivirus, which is free and absolutly the best phone tracker and antitheft I ever had, even better than Cerberus or other antitheft apps which arent even free!
I use Where's my Droid for antitheft purpose.
Arnab many say aft v root our device v wil get many exiting apps and device shows best performance..
some in XDA developer said dat if v root on ics v wil not void warranty it seems...is it true..?
rooting without unlocking bootloader is a bit safer. Just reflash the official ROm always before taking to warranty to have sony warranty I guess.
