I wanted a good, not ridiculously expensive, smartphone to replace my sturdy nonsmartphone. After some research, Xperia mini pro was the winner.
I have not done much with the phone (synced to google, set up some wireless networks, pretty much it).
PC companion: tells me an update is available. I get a page telling me to learn more about android 4.0 before allowing the "Continue" button to be pushed. After reading it, I push the "continue" button, but at the start of step 2 PC companion just goes back to the home screen.
Software update through phone: "You have the latest software and applications from Sony Ericsson. Your phone is up to date!" (android 2.3.4, build 4.0.2.a.0.62)
Any suggestions? (Xperia and android newbie)

Using my home computer was the trick. Apparently the geniuses at work failed to migrate my full administrator rights with the new organizational "improvements" they have been up to.
