Facebook inside Xperia vs Facebook app?

  1. Are there any benefits from using one over the other?
  2. Are there any performance differences between the two?
  3. How about syncing Facebook contacts information and photos? Is there any difference? Is one doing it better than the other?
  4. Is it a problem to use both?

Basically, what is the recommended setup here?

Thanks!

1. No. You need both anyway for FiX to function properly.

2. ^

3. The way it works:

  • The Facebook account syncs phone numbers, e-mail addresses, contact photos and status updates (visible on each contact's screen)
  • The FiX account syncs additional data such as birthday dates, relationship status etc. It doesn't sync photos though or anything else afaik.
  • Additionaly the FiX account enables you to access "Music from friends" in the WALKMAN app (which basically lets you quickly access any youtube videos your friends shared) and Facebook photos in the Album app. Quite nice if you ask me (you can run fb photos as a slideshow, too)
  • FiX lets you browse the activity wall in Timescape (which is pretty useless, but it's still there)
  • FiX is also an alternative to sharing photos (hit the "share" button and select it) and/or text and/or links. It's like Sony's own implementation of Facebook's share option

4. Not at all

Basically, use both, and as for sharing - just check which one works best for you Slightly_smiling_Face

I'm curious - where did you learn all that?

Thank you so much for answering.

Mostly I just figured it all out. When I bought the phone, I had to remove and re-add accounts several times because I had troubles with contacts and/or they just didn't merge as I wanted them to. I noticed that birthdays and relationship status has a different icon than a facebook status and when I remove the Facebook account, FiX account disappears. If I manually added only an FiX account, there were still no contact photos or any other information I mentioned Slightly_smiling_Face

No problem Slightly_smiling_Face Take care Slightly_smiling_Face

The FIX in my Xperia Z decelerates the following: "Contacts: Friends' photo and info about them, from the facebook" (translated from Polish). So I would expect FIX to download photos ...

I remember back in the X10 days, FBiX used to show people's photos and interests in the "Contacts" screen, if you selected a contact you could swipe along and see their photos, likes etc. Is this missing on all Xperia S or just mine?! It was quite a nice feature!
