that's odd, go to your phonebook and export your SIM contacts to your internal storage. that's normal that if you force stop an app it will be reopen if you restart or sometimes they are re-open by another app

charge your phone 100% > use it as you normally do > once it reach 50% or 10% go to

settings > battery > take screenshots of the list and the graph, also tap on each item on the list and copy the info, post it all here, you can check this right now and post your findings.

if you are syncing w/ fb, google, etc it will drain your battery as it's trying to update all your pictures videos and/or downloading your fb albums

Keeping GPS, Wi-Fi, GPRS data, Sync-ing and keeping multiple apps open may all be contributing. You can use the Power Saver app - it does help I believe.

Please note this is my 1st smart phone so not familiar with all this stuff but looking at the info below I assume its the sim contacts bit doing the battery and data use - if the phone is switched off then on again it reappears even though I have told it to Force stop before the phone was switched off.

so if this is the problem how do u know whats running and when and how do u stop it happening:

SIM contact - 56% battery used by app com.sonyericsson.simcontacts

      CPU total 1h 8m 17s

      keep awake 3h 12m 12s

Android OS - 30% cpu total 1h 7m 52s

Screen - 8%

Cell Stanby - 4% used by cell radio time on 3h 18m 21s

recommender - 3% used by app 5m 22s

Phone idle - 2% used when phone is idle 3h 2m 59s

Android system - 2% used by app 2m 4s etc

Media - 2% used by app 1m 49s

since you have ICS (android 4.0)

settings > data usage > set a monthly data limit > scroll down and look for maps > disable data usage on the app or just turn off your data.

also

settings > apps > all > look for apps that you do not use and disable them.

It is present on one of the homescreens. Strictly speaking it may not be an app, but it says "Power Saver". Try that, it switches off most things that might otherwise be running in the background and using up resources. If you want to browse or use 'heavier apps' you can turn off the power save mode at that time.
