Camera button not working?

I've tried taking pics using the camera button, but all it does is focus and not actually take a pic, for that i have to tap the screen.  Is that right or have I missed a setting somewhere as I thought the idea of the camera button was to take pics.

are you pressing the shutter button all the way down? it's a 2 stop button - 1st to focus, and depress harder to capture.

admittedly, the button is a bit stiff.

There is a setting similar to the problem you're describing. You can deactivate the touch capture feature. The camera button should however not be possible to deactivate.

Try to start the camera > press the menu button > Capturing method. Change to something it's not set to right now and see if that could make it work.
