3G Data traffic keeps switching back on

I keep having to manually turn it off (by unchecking 'Data enabled'), which is annoying. What might be triggering it back on all the time? I want to use wifi when available and only (expensive) 3G data when no wifi is available. Can anyone please advise what I should check? I've read that 'apndroid' can assist, however I don't want to use this if it's not necessary. Thanks.

seems to be an issue caused by some 3rd party app
just one time go through all the apps that are related to it and specially apps like  android manager, battery manager, (controls several things like data traffic, wifi etc etc)

revise their settings

if not able to make it, then you might need to do a master reset (settings > privacy)

if still unsuccessful then settings> privacy> factory data reset ( will delete all data on phone. So backup. Memory card not affected.)

Thanks for the responses. (EDIT: Where did the second one go???)

I have the 'Data Tracker' widget on my home screen. This is off when the screen goes to sleep. However when I want to wake it up, I push the Home button and then flick the lock to unlock it, and then I notice the 'Data Tracker' switching from off to on (i.e. it goes green) . However not every time.

The only apps I have added since getting the phone last week are AudioGalaxy and Easy Battery. I'll check the settings with those.

This really does sound like an issue caused by a 3rd party app.

The phone should not be able to activate this on it's own. Something must be triggering this.

If you cannot figure it out I suggest you try to either uninstall all the apps that might be the source to the problem or even perform a master reset. Avoid installing these apps for some time so you get the chance to confirm if the problem is gone or not.

I just got the phone so I've added almost nothing. I've uninstalled AudioGalaxy but it still enables itself.

If I bring up all the apps and then push the four square at bottom right it shows me which ones I can uninstall (with a little white cross inside a red box at the top right hand side of each app icon). The only ones that have the little white cross are:

Application Installer

Easy Battery

McAfee Security

WhatsApp

So the only third party app is Easy Battery. I'll uninstall that and see what happens.

I hope you're sitting on the edge of your seat.

Well, the first three wake-up and un-locks haven't triggered it back on. So perhaps it WAS the Easy Battery app. Will keep letting it fall asleep and waking it up (even if that technically constitutes torture).

Ok 15 times out of 15 I've woken it up and unlocked it and it HASN'T enabled data. So it WAS the Easy Battery app.

However after a little searching I see that instead of uninstalling I should have just "Turned off the data control by that app" as discussed here

so as i and markus said , it was due to third party app
anyways continue to enjoy your phone

Thanks. Yes you were both correct.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to "turn off the data controlled by that app". Steep learning curve this one.
