Hi,
I just bought a new M4 aqua phone.
Now I am looking to buy a new Micro SD Card for my phone.
I saw online that their are many speed specifications availaible for micro Sd cards, i.e. class 10, UHS 1, UHS 3 etc.... with Read/Write speeds ranging from 30Mb/sec to 95 Mb/Sec.
I wanted to know what is the maximum possible Micro SD Card speed supported by M4 Aqua?
I know that the maximum memory it supports is 128 Gb But what is the maximum possible speed SD Card that I can instalkl in M4 Aqua.
Regards
Yuri

"Thank you all for your valuable inputs... They all were quite useful in making an informed decision.... I received the following official response from sony...Hopefully will be helpful to someone else also.....
Dear Yuri,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre.
In regards of the Xperia M4 Aqua and the class of Micro SD card.
We would advise the device can use up to a 128GB, class 10 SD card.
Please avoid a UHS SD card as these are not compatible with the M4 Aqua.
Other then that you should face no issues with Micro SD cards.
We hope this helps."
Hi @gtsamour,
I'm afraid that @YSeekingAlpha was misinformed. All Xperia™ devices support the SD™ bus mode UHS-I, which is compatible with SD™ card speed class 2, 4, 6, and 10, UHS Speed Class 1 (UHS1) and UHS Speed Class 3 (UHS3).
Hi @Christofer,
Thank you for useful reply!
read the manual, that is the imei number!
@alexdon wrote:@YSeekingAlpha There is no need for such a fast microSD on a smartphone. 4K recording (which M4 doesn't support) requires at least class 10 microSD. So you are fine with class 10,perhaps UHS I.
Not true at all, any storage divise speed is not only quatified by its sutaind speed, more importaint is the random access, specially with the M4 that only got 4GB free space, you wane have fast random access to your card, something the the faster microSD cards can diliver.
@Even if i had a old PC with only SATA 150, i still would notice if i use a new SATA 600 SSD @150MB/s speed, then a old SATA 150 SSD.
As the new one would still with random (app) data use the USH-I to the max, ware a microSD that has the same max speed as the bus of the M4, has a verry low data transfer whith random data.
Its just like with a car whit lots of HP, drives faster and easier then one with lot less, even tho bot are limmited by the same speed limit of the used road, ofc if your USH-I bus is not a limiting factor, you can transfer video files a lot quicker to your PC, but how often do you do that, for me random accedss for App speed is just as important.
If that is correct, really dont know which one to choose bc Sony officials all say something else. You seem to know more about it so I would like to know which one you chose in the end, im in the same boat. I want to try to use the SD card as Internal storage so speed is more important, will a normal UHS with 48mbs work good for this or should I go for the more expensive UHS-I 90mbps?
