My netbook doesn't sync with Xperia L

I've installed PC Companion on my computer but it wouldn't see my smartphone. I connect it via USB but it can't connect to the computer thus. It says, "It's impossible to connect to this device". What can I do about this problem?

I would lie to use PC Companion to install the system update.

I have one more problem that follows. My L doesn't play any signal for SMS though I've set some signal for that. It does only vibration though the regime isn't mute.

Thank you in advance

Glad to hear that the update solved the problem.

Try clearing data for the app called "Media Storage" under Settings -> Apps -> All and then restart your phone.

If that doesn't help, set your file manager to display hidden files and folders and make sure that there's no file called ".nomedia" on the root of the SD-card or any of the folders containing your media. If there is, delete it and restart the phone.

What operating system are you using in the computer and have you tried restarting the phone and connecting it to another USB-port?

Also make sure that your computers meets the system requirements: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/.

Have you checked the settings in the messaging app? Go to Messaging -> [menu] -> Settings and here check "Notification tone" and that "Notifications" is enabled. Also check the volume for notifications under Settings -> Sound -> Volumes.

Thank you for your reply!

I'm using Windows 8 (32 bit). I have tried restarting my phone and connecting it to another port. I think that my computer meets all requirements written at the website.

As for the messaging tone, everything is all right in the settings menu, all these points are ticked but sound doesn't appear still.

Make sure that the USB connection mode is set to MTP under Settings -> Xperia -> USB connection mode before you connect the phone and then open the file explorer in Windows. Can you see the phone as a device there and access the files in it?

It sounds like there may be something wrong with the software so you need to perform a software update/repair.

Thank you ! I've decided to update my phone to 4.2.2 (I still had 4.1 at that moment) through Updater at the official website. Everything is working correctly now. However, instead, one more problem has appeared. My phone can read my SD card in general(there are files at the file manager) but my gallery and player doesn't see them. What can be done about it?
