My ZV-1 is approximately a year old and has recently started misbehaving. Sometimes it works fine and then for no apparent reason it will stop recording after a few seconds. Other issues are:
When I press record, it doesn't (sometimes the record light comes on still and sometimes it doesn't).
When it is on, the screen sometimes does not show the scene I am trying to film (though all the settings will be visible).
Sometimes when I switch on, before the screen looks as it should, there is a brief view of a dark screen of closely aligned vertical lines.
It won't always switch off and I have to take the battery out.
This all sounds quite a lot and as I said sometimes it works fine but it has become very inconsistent and unreliable. To remedy this I have tried a new battery, new memory card, have updated to the latest firmware and initialised the camera. None have worked. Am I missing something or is the camera goosed after only 12 months use and it needs repairing/replacing? Many thanks, Chris
I suppose you have studied the support page for your camera.
On the bottom of this page you will find a link to contact Sony Support.
Hi @ChrisJB72
You didn't say whether you'd tried resetting the camera.
If so then considering you still have the vertical lines and recording problems plus you've tried a different memory card and battery etc. then its definitely time to contact Support.
Thanks, I have yes. I think it is time to contact support as the unreliability is becoming a problem.
I have done a factory reset, yes. The frustrating thing is I could go out tomorrow, film all day and it could be fine, then the days after all the problems return. Yes, I think customer support is in order.
Hey there,
Sad to hear that it started reacting like that only within a year, hopefully Sony support reply back with something that can sort it for you.
Cheers.
