Hi Amossi,
I'll see if I can track down an answer, but maybe someone else in the community has an idea in the meantime.
Thanks,

Hi @Amossi,
I suggest you do not directly turn off your SB when you wish to use the TV internal speakers. Instead you should select the [Action Menu] using the TV remote, then select [Speakers] and then select [TV Speakers]. This ensures that the HDMI ARC link between the TV and SB is not lost due to the sudden power loss of the SB.
Hope that clears the matter for you.
Cheers,
Dutchice

The problem is when i turn the tv off not when i switch sound modes. Only when i turn off the tv and turn it on later the connection is lost.

Hi Amoss,
Welcome to our community!
Could you check if your TV is running the latest firmware version? You can use this link to find out how to check it and update it if needed.
Also, is it possible to try disabling the Bravia sync settings on your TV? I want to know if the same issue will occur with the sync disbled or not.
Cheers,
Batee5

Hi @Amossi,
My apologies if I didn't understand you well in my first response. Could you perhaps test the following scenarios and report back the results. It helps us understand better under which conditions is the issue happening or not happening. Please start all over when moving from one scenario to the other, don't skip steps in between.
Scenario 1
- Disable BRAVIA Sync from the TV Menu.
- Unplug the TV and SB from the mains.
- Plug-in both TV and SB after 30 seconds and turn both devices ON.
- Enable BRAVIA Sync from the TV Menu. And make sure that sound is being directed to the SB.
- Now switch OFF the TV, wait for 1 minute, then switch it back ON.
Does the sound come from the SB in this scenario?
Scenario 2
- Disable BRAVIA Sync from the TV Menu.
- Unplug the TV and SB from the mains.
- Plug-in both TV and SB after 30 seconds and turn both devices ON.
- Enable BRAVIA Sync from the TV Menu. And make sure that sound is being directed to the SB.
- Select [TV Speakers] from the ACTION Menu > Speakers. Your SB must automatically remain ON and mute.
- Now select [Audio System] from the ACTION Menu > Speakers.
Does the sound come from the SB in this scenario?
Scenario 3
- Disable BRAVIA Sync from the TV Menu.
- Unplug the TV and SB from the mains.
- Plug-in both TV and SB after 30 seconds and turn both devices ON.
- Enable BRAVIA Sync from the TV Menu. And make sure that sound is being directed to the SB.
- Select [TV Speakers] from the ACTION Menu > Speakers. Your SB must automatically remain ON and mute.
- Now switch OFF the TV, wait for 1 minute, then switch it back ON.
Does the sound come from the TV in this scenario?
Scenario 4
- Disable BRAVIA Sync from the TV Menu.
- Unplug the TV and SB from the mains.
- Plug-in both TV and SB after 30 seconds and turn both devices ON.
- Enable BRAVIA Sync from the TV Menu. And make sure that sound is being directed to the SB.
- Select [TV Speakers] from the ACTION Menu > Speakers. Your SB must automatically remain ON and mute.
- Switch OFF the TV, wait for 1 minute, then switch it back ON.
- Now select [Audio System] from the ACTION Menu > Speakers.
Does the sound come from the SB in this scenario?
Post back your results. We will review them, then take it from there. Just be aware that Sony does not guarantee full compatibility with devices from other brands when using the BRAVIA Sync feature. In fact there is no brand of TV or AV device in the consumer electronics market that can guarantee compatibility with all other brands. So it might very well be that at the end of the day, your SB and TV are simply not the best match for each other. That is what we soon will find out together.
Cheers,
Dutchice

Hello,
I have the same problem with TV KD-55XD8505 and JBL SB 5.1
I have this SB for a month now and everything was working fine until today when I found out that when I turn the TV off and back on again the SB doesn’t work. The problems seems to be fixed when restarting the TV but it occurs again after turning it off. I’ve tried everything you mentioned above and noting works. I have also tried to connect the previous SB that i had which was SONY HT-RT3 and the problem was the same.

Can you carry out the tests @Dutchice suggests above, and report back?
My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…
