Sony Xperia 1 iii Fingerprint sensor not working

My Fingerprint sensor is not responding or tells me to wipe the sensor clean which seems to be a common fault.

Is there a actual fix to this problem or is it a faulty power button/ sensor?

I have this problem.  I don't think it's temperature.  A restart always cures it for a while.  I'm pretty sure it's software.   I'm on Android 13 and I understand newer phones IV and V phones had the problem but don't now they have Android 14.  So it's an Android 13 issue for Sony but we 1 III users will not get Android 14 sadly.

Mine is just a spare phone now, Sony just kept fobbing me off saying the usual thing they never had any complaints before about the problem.

I just bought a pixel 8 pro, fantastic phone, shame really I been a Sony customer for 30+ years

I have the fingerprint problem too with my xperia 5 III. Since Android 13 it didn´t work any longer. I tried everything recommended including restarts loosing many data. Nothing helped...

Yes same we me, even reset my phone and lost loads of data. I jumped through all the hoops they told me to do and by then the two years was up so they said I would have to pay when it's clearly there fault.

Shocking how a big company can just fob people off, it's happened a few times with different appliances over the good 40 years I been buying Sony, you tell them you have a problem and they lie saying they not heard that before even though thousands have the same problem.

Customer loyalty has got me no where, so shopping elsewhere from now on

Sony Xperia 1iii here. Exactly same issue as described above.

I've factory reset. The problem would intermittently go away and come back.

Now it just refuses to read my fingerprint. Apparently it's a faulty ribbon cable.

I'll pay to have or fixed. I just want my flagship phone to work properly! These things cost a fortune.
