Been using Sony Z series phones for a long time. My best experience was with Z2. The software updates, the camera quality and etc was ok. But the battery life and over heating was ridiculous bad. Z3 and Z3+ etc.. so forth improved.. However similar problem accumlated and the camera software seems to be decrease. Hardware improved but the software picture quality decrease and picture noise ever increasing. But Z5 Premium was the last straw. Brought the phone when it first came out. Even pre-order it. The phone can't even take a better quality picture than a rubbish iphone or any of the samsung or htc phones. What is the point of having such a good hardware and never improving the software?
Why I brought the Sony phone Z series phones was also the water resistance and blah blah blah.. But seems liike all the phones these already have this function. Absolutely no loyalty from Sony. They never offer any discount or anything for its loyal customers. Or if you previous owner of Z series phones you get a free software or app or accessories or anything like that.
When there is a software update. Seems like Sony just disappears suddenly. No timeframe on the next update nor a real fix on the current software problems.
Sony mentioned after Z5P they would start releasing phone annually. So I gave Sony one last try. Yet within probably 1-2months since I got the phone. They manage to change what they said. They released another model ie 'X series' ie.. putting an X infront of Z (incase no one noticed) and started pumping out new phones 6months cycle again. Basically a slap in the face for Sony customers. And basically putting Z5P phone which is just a year old now into the dump as probably within a year or maximum two. The software updates would end for sure. Unlike the previous series of Z phones. The update last over 2-3 years aleast some even 4 years.
On another note I am super let down by Z5Premium. Software updates manage to make a phone that did not heat up as bad in the past into a phone that heats up like crazy now. Software updates with this phone is super slow. Z5 model manages to get the update even faster than Z5P. So why is Z5P a premium phone? Might as well make it a Z5-Large.
This is absolute the last straw. Looking at the next z5 premium nougat update. Just disappeared overnight. No timeframe and etc regarding. Z5P currently still heating like crazy with simple use. No software update to fix that issue have been made for the last 6 months and more. Current Z5P phone still heats like crazy.
Will give this phone 3-5months and see the progress. If the softwares and no fix occur. Guess its good bye sony for good. Been a loyal supporter for a long time. But you have let a loyal customer down.
