Z5 locked screen pocket problems

My new Z5 constantly is making noise when the volume button is touched in my pocket. And the worst is the random turning on of the camera light. I unlock the screen, open camera to turn it off and it says "camera not available" is there an update to fix this? I can't have a phone constantly doing things in my pocket!

Nice suggestions, the first answer was the closest. Go into security and change Autolock to immediately so it doesn't wait 5secs to properly lock the screen. I think most people would want their phone to lock straight away, cheers for the replies.

Hi,

The volume buttons will only wake up the screen if the phone has not entered sleep mode. When you lock the phone, it will take about 5 seconds before the phone is in sleep mode and then the volume buttons won't wake the screen.

Perhaps it is the quick launch button for the camera that is pressed while you have it in the pocket which is waking the screen. Try to disable it via Camera > Menu button (three dots) > Settings tab (the one with a gear wheel) > Quick launch > Off.

If the flashlight is active, you cannot access the camera. You need therefore, drag down the status field and turn the flashlight off from here.

I had the same problem when I first got the phone. Screen and light kept coming on in my pocket and I'd realize it a while after when I felt the heat. There is a double tap to wake up screen setting in Display settings that you need to turn off to minimize the problem. The double tap feature is a handy feature I really liked and used on my windows phone, but that phone did not have a button on the notification slider to turn on the flashlight so it was not a problem there.

@Aj8 Brilliant fix, that worked a treat.

This has happened a couple of times to me whilst my handset has been in my pocket. Thanks again. Slightly_smiling_Face
