Z5 Camera Update - Not Working

I've just updated the camera application on my Z5, and now the rear facing camera doesn't work. It doesn't work in the camera application itself, it doesn't work with snapchat, it doesn't work with Facebook, it doesn't work with anything. Although the front facing camera does still work.

When I open the camera application, or snapchat, it's just a pitch black screen. You can see the "heads up display" in the application but it doesn't show what it should see through the lens.

I don't know why it's like this, and I expect Sony to fix it quickly with a new update.

A software repair (a new installation of Android 7), with Xperia companion, doesn't work in my case. I have the same issue after updating to Android 7.
Maybe the camera hardware? I don't know

@sanfransoho: can you describe the problem you are having with your camera? did you immediately restored your apps after the software repair using Xperia Companion? 

try to test the camera after the software repair without restoring your apps

if you are still experiencing the problem, try to contact your local service center Local support

The camera don't start. Only a black screen and after a minute the camera app crash.
After repair with Xperia campaign, the same problem. I don't load a restore point point or something else. Only the contacts from Google and the apps from the play store after reinstalling android 7.

I have the same issue as well. Camera n flashlight stopped working..i tried all the options.. Xperia z5 premium phone..
The prob strtd after i upgraded to nougat. Is there any bug fix update for this?

I have the same issue, rear camera mostly not working. Front camera has no issues.

Happened a week after upgrading to Android 7, camera screen is black, and if I try to take a picture the app crashes. Sometimes the screen goes green, in this situation I am able to take pictures.

Tried to do "Software repair" today, this has not solved the issue.

However I am now able to make the camera work by opening and closing the Album app from the shortcut in camera app. At first the screen is black, after opening/closing the album app two or three times, suddenly the camera is working, and I can take pictures.

Closing the camera app or opening album app again and the screen goes black again. For this I am running the Album app NOT in latest version.

Seems like a software issue after Adroid 7 upgrade, maybe an issue between album app and camera app.

Same issue even after doing the hard reset still does not work ... 

I agree this seems to be an issue from the new update on Android. 

Any luck anyone pls help or I wont be able to take cat photos anymore.

In link above you can see what kind of issue I have with my camera after latest security update on android Nougat. I tried system repair via PC Companion, but issue still presist. I have this problem over a month, and my patience is running out.

My camera is not working as well, I did all these steps including the factory reset and the diagnostics app says there is a problem with the camera, but it does not offer any solutions. Could you please help me?

So I had same problem with Z5C with 6.0.1 and root.. tried everything, and finally disabling Video app seems like working fix. so disable Video 1.0.C.2.7 and clear data.

I have a xperia z5* compact and now have the same issue

I've tried force stopping and restarting the camera app and it does nothing.

Snap chat and camera works with front camera but the rear camera just stays blank. So annoying
