Its been 4 months since i'm using this phone and its been an amazing xperience. But since i updated my phone to 4.2.2 i noticed that my phones microphone is not working which was working well before the update.During a call i'm clearly able to hear the person on the other side but they are merely able to hear my voice.I'm pretty sure its a problem with 4.2.2 update. Its really sad that i'm not even able to make use of the basic purpose of a phone then whats the point in owing a flagship phone??Sony developers need to seriously look into this matter as among the other flagship competitors it is really loosing its ground.Hope this message reaches you.Hope you help us with this in the next 4.3 update.

I have same problem after update to 4.2.2. I tried to repair with PCC, unchekced mic noise suppression or tried other "methods, described on forums" - nothing helps- same problem. When I run MIC Test (*#*#service#*#*) - no audible or sometimes very very quiet sound was recorded, with stock voice recorder - same result. But! But with Skype Echo test or just skype call to friend - microphone work very good. With 3rd party voice recording app - work very good. Finaly i tested with Xperia Diagnostics app - work very good.
it might be an app acting up or a protective case covering the mic
try this
repair your phone with SUS or PCC > do NOT install any app > make phone calls and check if they can hear you, if they can then its an app
Update Service (SUS)

Not brilliant solution for not brilliant mic work, but helped:
disabled:
com.google.andoid.voicesearch
com.sonymobile.connectivitycenter
google search
google text to speech engine
smart connect
talkback
had performed d repair and tried to make cals but for no use the issue is still there.thanks for d reply.
I found that if you go to "Settings" > "Call Settings" and then turn off "Microphone Noise Suppresion" the microphone will start to work again.
This worked for me.
***Update***
I just re-enabled "Microphone noise suppression" and tested the Mic during a phone call and its still working. I hope this solves your problem.
