Xperia Z5 shuts down and shows low battery even when battery life is high

Hello Sony support,

Can you please help? I have a Sony Xperia Z5 which I bought back in February 2016, but recently it seems to have developed a problem.

If I'm using it at length, it will shut itself off, usually starting around 65% battery life remaining, and if I try to start it up again, it will show the red icon with low battery life, and I won't be able to start it up again.

However if I plug it into the charger, I will be able to start it up, and the battery life starts charging at 65%.

Any ideas what I can do to fix this? Will I need to replace the battery?

I also have this problem with a more or less functioning phone EXCEPT for this issue!

Any solutions, that doesn't involve raping the planet for a new phone?

This has been reported and escalated before, it's even present with the Xperia XZ

And the solution is? It is annoying and a serious waste of child labour for the raw material which the phone is built on... 😤
