Hi!
I bought Xperia Z5 Dual, and I was wondering if it already comes with a screen protector on it, or do I need to buy it and apply it?
I know that my previous phone Xperia T came with screen protector on, and when I wanted to replace it, it was evident. But I am not sure that Z5 comes with it.
Did anyone perhaps replace theirs?
Hi @Milutin,
Are you talking about the ultra-thin plastic usually found a mobile device screen when you buy them new (most consumer devices with a screen will have these when bought new)? Or the thicker screen protectors (often made of ultra-thin glass) used to protect against scratches?
All (new) Sony mobile devices should have the ultra-thin plastic on them when you buy them, as this is used to protect the screen during transit (i.e. from the factory to the the warehouse to the store to you)... The thicker screen protectors (often made of ultra-thin glass) are not normally included - though in saying this, a growing number of stores include these with purchase or for a small fee, and sometimes the store will even apply them before giving you your mobile device.
I'm referring to the one for daily use, that can be bought at any local shop. It's for scratches, it can be glossy or matte.
This means that it probably didn't come and that I should buy it.
@Milutin,
Yes, those screen protectors don't normally come with mobile devices... But sometimes a store will include it with the purchase or for an aditional fee (e.g. the smartphone I just bought - the Xperia XA1 Ultra - will include one, but I had to purchase it).
These screen protectors can be found in many cellular telecommunications stores, or you can easily find them on places like eBay from hundreds of different sellers... Try to get the glass ones if you can - they're a little more expensive, but generally a lot stronger.
Hi @Milutin, congratulations on your new device!
On some devices there is a pre-installed Anti Shatter Film on the display, however Xperia Z5 is not one of them.
The specifications for the device includes this information "Chemical tempered glass + Anti-fingerprint coating".
Did you buy the device from a retailer in the same region/market that you are located in or do you know which country the device was sold from? If you do, I would recommend that you get in touch with your Local support team or the Local support team where the device was bought from, as the box content may differ between markets/regions.
I hope that helps!

I've never seen this on any of the Sony smartphones we've had over the years... But maybe it was there and I just never noticed it - my partner says she's seen it on some of her smartphones.
You learn something new every day!
Hi @gregoryopera, sorry for my late reply.
I will list some devices that comes with a pre-installed ASF (Anti Shatter Film) on the display.
Xperia M2 Aqua / M2 Aqua Dual, Xperia V, Xperia X Compact, Xperia Z1 Compact. There are some other devices as well such as the Xperia XZ1 Compact that have the ASF under the display.
It is not very easy to notice it, if you don't know that it should be there to begin with!

Yeah, it sounds like it's just because I've never noticed it, especially since my wife insists she's always had them...
