Hi,
I use dual sim In France (Sim1) and Switzerland (Sim2).
When I am in switzerland and my SIM1 is in LTE mode and Data roaming deactivated (option not checked in settings), I see the R in the top bar icons.
But I received in my last bill fees for having used the data roaming.. I checked the dates, and it is corresponding to the date I have bought my Sony Z3 Dual. Before that I had LG Android phone with same setting, I didn't have any issue.
What wrong with the sony phone to use data while I don't want to use roaming ??? How to solve this? I dont want to remove my French sim from the phone when I am in Switzerland, It is the reason why I get this phone....

Solved! Go to Solution.
Our developers have investigated this but the conclusion is that from a technical perspective this behavior is not possible in the phone. As soon as you're roaming, data will be disabled.
Although i understand the trouble you have with this issue, the company has taken the decision not to go any further with this case. What you can do is to turn off mobile data before you cross the boarder.
Hi and welcome to the community!
Did you send or receive any MMS messages on SIM1 during this time? That is still possible and may be charged as mobile data.
No I dont use MMS and the total used data is about 90 Mb (cost me 30 euro).
My z3 dual is imported from Hong Kong, it doesn't exist on French market.
Is it possible that this model is differently configured? if yes, how to change this?
Sorry to hear that.
It's not something i've heard of before but the roaming settings can differ between different countries and operators depending on the requirements of that country and operator. It's set by the firmware in the phone so there's no setting for it if that's the case.
Do you know if it happens when SIM1 is on 3G/WCDMA? Disabling mobile data and not only the roaming setting may also be a solution.
I made some more test. The issue occur when I just cross the border, my phone change network and the phone continue to use Data.
This is very bad behavior, I have to manually stop the data... Not usable..
Please give me advice or more support.
I cannot think to keep this phone with this huge bug.
Could you test if this also happens on 3G/WCDMA?
What operators are you using?
I see that you've also been in contact with our local support in Hong Kong but your phone is actually not from Hong Kong, it was sold in Saudi Arabia.
Hello,
I am using Orange France.
I tried with 3G/WCDMA, it is the same.
I made some test with an apps from Orange France that calculate the data usage and roaming.
This application show that roaming is disabled.
On the repport I can see in my Orange customer panel, I clearly see that the roaming data usage happens only when I just crossed the border and change network. It is like the phone continue to use data juste after switching network... and during the day it is ok.
The detection of foreign network takes time and then stop using data later..

I will forward this internally to see if i can find any more information about this.
