Xperia Z3 D6603 losing cell signal every few seconds

My Xperia Z3 D6603, which is coming up on a year old, suddenly started losing cellular connection every few seconds (then reacquiring, then dropping, etc).

As mentioned, this is a new symptom within the past week. It happens all around town, so it's not one faulty tower. I have tried restarting the phone and updating the carrier settings.

Thanks. I tried that and we're still having the same issue. It's causing the phone to burn through its battery in just a few hours.

This could be a faulty SIM card have you tried a friend or family members SIM card within the Xperia Z3 device to see if the problem persists?
