Xperia z2 Battery Dies quickly, takes very long to charge, device turns off when hitting a surface

So I've had this Xperia Z2 for quite a while now, and in the past 6 months has beome faulty on several levels. Firstly, the battery dies extremely quickly, even while charging the phone, it continues to go down, which leads onto my second point, wherefore the phone takes an extremely long time to charge, over a day to get from 0-100%, using a magnetic charger connected to the wall. The phone no longer charges from the micro USB port for reasons I am not sure of. I have used multiple different usb ports and it refuses to charge, unless held in a very specific position, however, each time it becomes more difficult to find this spot, until I can no longer find it. The phone also takes an extremely long time to startup, and heats up noticeably in this process.

Furthermore, the phone turns off/resets/turns off without being able to turn back on unless being plugged in, everytime it hits a surface, even when this is done lightly. And even when it doesn't hit a surface, it will sometimes randomly shut down. sometimes it requires a light slap to the back of the device to turn it back on.

I am sorry to hear about your phone.

Based on all the great information you have provided this sound like it's related to hardware and not software in your phone, since you can't charge the phone with a USB-cable unless it is in the correct angle and that it turns off when you put the phone on a table or similar surface.

I would recommend that you get in touch with your Local support team so they can arrange a repair for you. They are also the experts on your market so if you have any questions about service routines, consumer laws and so forth they will gladly assist you with this!

I've got really the same problem. Since  a week it only charges with magnetic Adapter. The USB charge port is damaged since the same time. Have tried any USB cable a/o adapter. Today I've changed the battery but the problem remains.

If the charging port is damaged, I'd recommend that you get in touch with your Local support team so they can arrange a repair for you.

For the past few days my Xperia Z2 is showing fluctuating battery charge. It abruptly drops down to 3%, 2% or 1% and then immediately switches off. It doesn’t turn on by pressing power button unless and until connected through charger. After connecting to the charger the battery level shoots to near the same % age level where it had abruptly dropped ad finally shut down. I did a factory reset as well, but no improvement. Pls suggest.

Hi @Kaps1, I'm sorry to hear about this.

There is a few more things that you can try and see if you can solve this on your own.

First of all I'd recommend that you start with calibrating the battery in your phone. Do this you will need to use the phone so it reaches 0% battery left and shut the phone off with the OFF-button that is found near the area of your SIM card.

Charge the phone to 100% while it's powered off and see if you still experience the same behaviour.
