WiFi icon in status bar disappeared

Hi, two days ago the wifi icon in the status bar just disappeared. I can connect to wifi networks as usual, but no wifi icon is visible anymore. Could this be due to having installed the Accuweather app? This app has a temperature notification in the status bar. However, the wifi icon does not come back even when I switch off Accuweather notifications... I tried rebooting etc, but nothing seems to work. Bizarre.

Open Settings then Personalisation then at the bottom Status bar icons and then check to see if said icon is enabled
