I've just today had a very similar problem. I was in a swimming pool and decided to try the waterproof camera by taking videos and pictures. It worked very well and did a great job, the depth of the pool was 1.50m which was the limit but i never took it under 90cm,  and i only used it for about 15 minutes. Anyway about 30 mins later i was in the car when i realised water vapour inside the front and back camera, and the flash. I turned on the camera and it looked very boogy, so i turned the phone off and opened both the flops, when i got home i didn't know what to do so looked up on internet to find a solution. When i blow dried it with the lowest heat and fairly far away it was gone but when the phone turned back to room temp. the vapour came back. After my phone was turned off for about 2 hours i turned it on and it was slower than usual and the bit where you can test it didnt work, give force stop. both the cameras were boggy and the video recorder of back camera didnt work at first. This was my first time trying the phone underwater, i am 100% sure that both the flops were fully closed but since the day i bought it i didnt trust them because it just doesnt look safe enough.

I really cant believe people who're saying you cant use the phone in swimming pool.

If you go on the sonymobile and look at the xperia z2, you'll see 2 photos that were taking under water and they were clearly swimming pool, but we don't know that it was chlorinated or not, so i looked it up.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to give direct links but it's from sonymobile so it should be fine, i guess.

You can use your device:

  • in dusty environments, for example, on a windy beach.
  • when your fingers are wet.
  • in some extreme weather conditions, for example, when it’s snowing or raining.
  • in fresh (non-saline) water depths of 1.5 metres or less, for example, in a fresh water lake or river.
  • in a chlorinated swimming pool.

so you in fact CAN use your phone in a swimming pool.

I live in UK and purchased my phone on gsm nation so i don't think sony warranties it but i got a warranty from gsm nation, i dont know what i should do bcoz i wont be back to uk until the 13th, my phone is currently turned off and im gonna buy rice tomorrow and put it in there, let's see how that works out.

Does anyone have any recommendations for me? i know my only 'guaranteed' option is to take it to service but i cant do that till i get back, i dont have a back up phone. Sorry about the language english isn't my mother tongue, ask anything i didnt explained clearly.

got my new sony z2 , tired it in glass of water , all flaps sealed , with screen cover for added protection, took one picture and have water in camera lense, now have phone with water damage , sony isreal said flaps mustve been open , which was not case , as had friends with me to testify, and it was gift from family , from south africa , i was so paranoid i double checked, plus put cover , and made sure all ok,   sony isreal wont reply to emails,   all they said in call was i willhave to get my phone fixed as sony doesnt cover water dmage ,,   theres no point in sending back to sa as will cost me alot to do express and i have emailed sony sa and carrier of phone and not one has commented or come back to me, on there page says they dont cover water damage ,  so thanks sony for nothing,   phone is not water resistent and that hit it has ip67 certification , probably was bought , as it cant take a cup of water and wasnt fully submerged ,,,, i am so very dissapointed in this product all marketing is false ,,   i love how they market taking video and pictures under water ,,, mine couldnt under fresh still water in a clean glass with a cover ...

im having a problem with my XperiaZ2. Its been 2 months since i bought my Xperia Z2 and till now i haven't had any issues with it, but last Sunday i went into the pool and i briefly summerged it. Got out of the pool and the phone was working just fine for about 4-5 hours afterwards, when suddenly it turned off. I tried to charge it but it wouldnt charge, instead the led of the phone turned red while it vibrated 3 times continuesly until i disconnected the charger ; also i noticed the front and back camera lenses were misted . I checked the phone and all the flaps were properly closed. Later i took out the SIM card and opened the flaps to blew it with a hairdryer, which helped to disappear the mist of the cameras. I have not turned it on since this happened, what else can i do?

Please under no circumstances use a hairdryer to dry your phone as the heat generated can cause serious damage to your phone.

I read in another post that someone recommended a hairdryer to create a air flow and make the water evaporate. So for the next 3 days after the incident ive been blowing the phone repeatedly. To make the mist in the lenses go away. Today after 3 days i turned on the phone and it did turn on. But the right side of the touchscreen is not responding. What now???

You're not supposed to use the device in a pool. The chlorine will mess with the phone.

Funny, they used to say avoid chlorine water. It was the same when I got my phone. Must have changed the page according to newer specifications

I haven't tried out my new one to the fullest but so for it have worked. But I'm a little scared of trying in under water. Another funny thing tough is that z3 been released already wich made me a little bit disappointed since z2 was brand new around 5 months ago.
