Hi,
I'm unable to backup using Back up and restore app after encrypting my device but my SD card is not encrypted.
Is this an expected behaviour?
Cheers,
Andy

You might have to repair the phone
how about
settings > apps > all > backup & restore > clear everything > try again

Tried that a couple of times. Backup will fail once I encrypt the storage.
Sorry to hear that, the only option is to use my suggestions above
That is definitely the intended operation sorry, this is done so that if you have encrypted the device no one can just plug your phone into a PC and pull all the data off.

This is ridiculous. The excuse that it's by design is laughable. If the phone is encrypted, it should simply create an encrypted backup. This is so obvious. There is no excuse to limit the functionality because the phone is encrypted.
Sony doesn't tell you this will be a limitation. Furthermore, there is NO way to remove the encryption unless you do a factory reset, and you can't back up your data before doing so!
I agree with supershots on this one.
I had to encrypt my phone to add my corporate exchange account and now I can't backup my phone.
How about an enhancement request to get encrypted backups supported?
