Trouble with headphones since latest update

Since the latest update, I've had trouble connecting headphones to my phone. There's a buzzing sound and I have to turn the plug in different ways tog get any sound at all. There's no problem when I use the speakers. It seems unlikely that this problem doesn't have anything to do with the update? Any help appriciated!

If you need to turn the plug different ways to get any sound at all then it might unfortunately be hardware-related, in that case you will need to have your device sent to an authorized service centre. Contact your Local support for information on how to send it in.

There are however a few more things you can try. Does the same thing happen while your device is rebooted to safe mode?

You can also try clearing data for the Smart Connect app, go to Settings > Apps > Smart Connect > Storage > Clear data followed by rebooting your phone.

I you think this is software-related I recommend performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. If that doesn't help I suggest you have your device sent to and examined by a service centre.

Hello @cecjohn!

Does the same thing happen with every headset you connect to your phone or does this only happen with one particular headset? Have you been able to try this using a Sony original headset?

Hi @Didrik
I've tried several different headphones, including the ones that came with the phone. They all have the same problem.

Hey @cecjohn,

I've seen this happen with a few Z3 Compacts now. Two of my close friends have had the exact same issue. They contacted Sony and got a replacement/repair arranged free of charge... so if you haven't sorted it, I suggest you do this ASAP.

This appears to be a known hardware issue.
