go to settings-storage and look there what occupies most of your memory. you can also tap cache and delete all cache

I use Astro as I know from my Xperia S days you can choose to show hidden files and folders

Can you please advise what the figure shows within Storage.
Menu > settings > Storage
Let us know what is using the memory, you should see a colorful bar with a legend below it.

In Astro tap on Multi then select all then delete or select all then tap on files you want to keep to deselect then tap delete

If you wish to remove the photos faster, I suggest that you connect your handset to a PC and find the DCIM folder with thumbnails and remove them. You can easily scan through folders using a PC.
Are you aware on how to access the internal storage through a PC?
