So, I wanted to update my phone to Lollipop and when I tried connecting through MTP, it states that it can't detect it but, if I connect it through MSC it detects it in a couple of seconds. My laptop operates on Windows 8.1 and I've tried all my USB inputs, but to no avail. I've looked thorugh most of these fourms and tried almost anything I came accross but, again, continue having the same problem
Solved! Go to Solution.
Try right clicking that device in device manager, uninstall it and then connect the phone to another USB port.
If that doesn't help, go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Media Storage -> Clear data -> OK in the phone, restart the phone and see if that helps. It will not delete any of your files.
Hi and welcome to the community!
Sorry to hear that you have issues connecting your phone.
Does your version of Windows include Windows Media Player?
Yes
When the phone is connected in MTP-mode, do you see it as a portable device in Windows explorer? If not, open the device manager in Windows, do you see any device(s) with a question mark or exclamation mark?
None at all, but there is an Unspecified device with the model number on it
Try right clicking that device in device manager, uninstall it and then connect the phone to another USB port.
If that doesn't help, go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Media Storage -> Clear data -> OK in the phone, restart the phone and see if that helps. It will not delete any of your files.
It worked !
Thanks a lot
Glad to hear that it works now
