hello! I am now prompted that there is an available software update. I am just curious because I wanted to be sure, does sony advise to update the software on my own (at home)? Because I had an experience with Nokia before and they advised me not to do updates on my own because some internet connection interference/glitches my affect the installation process and can myabe cause some data to be improperly installed. they said it is best to bring the phone to the service center for updates. just want to know if sony shares the same idea?

Hi Earlbax!
Umm,personally i never heard that before..But it is safe to both update on your PC or your phone(via OTA) but i prefer updating via OTA because any interuption happened during the update progress at your PC(for example, the USB cable snapped off) then some problems would occur.
To ensure that you would update your phone safely,
1)have a constant connection with the Internet
2)Make sure your phone is charged at least 60%
3) If its a major update(ie. changing from 4.4 to 5.0 Lollipop) consider making a backup for personal settings before updating.(Making a backup file can be done using PC Companion app on your PC)
