Recover from accidental reset

Just acquired Sony Z5 Compact (E5823) and had transferred contacts, messages and emails and installed a number of apps.  All this was 2 days ago.  Unfortunately, somehow or other I must have inadvertantly hit the reset button and the phone has lost all information including phone number so cannot even make a call.

Is there ANY way to recover the lost information?  Thanks for all replies!!

I'm sorry to hear that.

Also check so that you haven't switched to another user account in the phone by accident. As you are unable to place calls, that might be the cause.

While on the lock screen, swipe own the notification bar and select the top right icon and make sure your account is selected.

but you did enter your google account when you first turned on the phone? try to go to https://contacts.google.com, to see if there are contacts that were saved,

as for the apps, if you downloaded them from google play store, then they will be saved in a list,

unfortunately, there is no 100% way to recover the data unless you have a backup of some sort...

Was able to check Goggle Drive and found that pictures were backed up, but did not see a Contact file.

Web search found program called "Android Data Rescuer".  Do you have an opinion about this program?  Far as you know, is any info saved on the SIM card after a reset?  Thanks again for your help!

the reset only affects whatever is in the internal memory of the phone, the sim card and sd card is not affected ( well unless you also wiped the sd card too).

I have never used Android data rescuer, when I got the same situation as you are, I would rather start from scratch, well unless there is very important data that needs to be revovered.

What I hate to loose most are my contacts.  Google had no contacts. So looks like I'm SOL.  Anyway, appreciate your kind assistance!

Found it!!!!!  Your advice to pull down menu and check status of user was the CORRECT advice. Turned out that I had inadvertently started to create a "guest" account.  Deleted that, and my phone and information was back.

Thank you SO MUCH!!

Best,
