"Starting Android"

When I turn on my z5 compact it just says "Starting Android" on the home screen. No apps available and I can't access the app library. I can use apps resently used, by pressing the square button at the bottom of the screen.

I have tried restarting and turning on and off, but nothing seems to work. 

What do I do? What is wrong with it?

which android version were you running?

that pop up appears when Google play does a major update

try holding volume up and power button until the phone vibrates and turns off, then open up the sim card panel, and get a pin and push the reset button near the tray for about 20 seconds... should look like a yellow rectangle next to a slot
