Quick charge, does it really work?

My Xperia Z5 Premium is supposed to be able to charge in about 45 minutes with the new feature in these phones but it takes more than 2 hours, just like a regular charger. I have already checked that the charger in the retail is in fact compatible with the quick charge (UCH 10), the only unusual thing is that it comes in a shape that is probably for other territories and not compatible with my plugs but it comes as well with an adaptor. I would be really thankful if someone could help me.

It charges 60% in 45 min not 100%.

Having purchased a brand new Z5 Dual a few weeks ago, I have had several calls to Sony support regarding the fast charge feature not working since the phone was updated.

I was given conflicting advice, one advisor saying I should wait for a software update and another suggesting the phone should be sent for repair. Any advisor I spoke to claimed the issue has never been reported before yet there are countless posts on here and other forums with users claiming the same issue that the fast charge is not working.

I have tested the phone thoroughly and as advised have done several software repairs and factory resets with no change. Now that 32.4.A.1.54 update has been released, here are my findings:

The fast charge feature was working on v5.1.1 which the phone arrived with as it charged from 4% to 60% in exactly 45 mins (as advertised) and a full charge in 1 hour 58 mins and using the Ampere app it would charge at 1800ma.

When testing on any subsequent version right up to the latest 32.4.A.1.54, the fast charge feature is not working and a 45 minute charge only takes it from 4% to 32% and a full charge over 3 hours and the Ampere app only showed a max 1500ma but mostly 1000ma.

This has been a frustrating few weeks with poor advice from Sony support. I would be very grateful for me and for others if Sony would acknowledge that there is a software issue and confirm that it has been escalated to the developers so that they can release a fix.

I am a loyal Sony fan and most products I own are Sony but this has been a disappointing experience with what is an expensive device that should operate as advertised.

Thank you Sony Support and I hope you will reply to this issue.

No response from Sony on this and Customer Support have now referred me to the complaints department.

Can anyone who is on latest Nougat update v7.1.1 confirm what charging current they are seeing in ampere using a fast charger?

I have tested with UCH10 and Aukey fast chargers and not seeing anything higher than 1560ma which is the same when I use a stock charger.

I also note that whether 'Charging Optimization' is on or off makes no difference to charging current or speed so now wondering if 'Charging Optimization' is stuck on.

Can't see this being a hardware fault with my device as when it was on Android 5.1.1 the feature was working and Ampere was showing between 1800-2000ma.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could check what current they are seeing in Ampere using a fast charger and let me know.

Many thanks.

I realised a mistake in my testing which was that I had installed the firmware for the single sim E6653 v5.1.1 so I installed the correct firmware for the E6633 and no fast charge and max charging current of 1550ma.

So i then installed the E6653 single sim firmware again and fast charge works and charging current is 2190ma.

My findings therefore are:

- installed every version of Z5 dual firmware and no fast charge and none charge at more than 1550ma

- installed single sim E6653 firmware onto my Z5 dual and fast charge works and charging current is 2190ma

Seems to me that Sony has not included the fast charge feature on the dual versions firmware despite it being advertised as having this feature.

So Sony, can you confirm my findings with your developers?
