Problem with internal storage

My phone has had this problem for over a year now: I have a little under three gigabytes worth of apps in my internal storage with the rest located in my sd-card. However when viewing the used memory it says that my apps use over 10 gigabytes of internal memory. This number is closer to all my app data on sd card and internal storage combined, including my Spotify library of offline music. I don't know if this is a display error of some sort and the data is still all in my internal memory or if my phone is doing something wonky. I'd like to be able to install more than Spotify and the preinstalle software so a fix would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Note: I emptied my cache and counted both the app itself and the stored data on device showcased on the apps menu to get the numbers I have.

Thanks! It was a display problem showing the downloaded music from Spotify to be stored in sd card while in reality it was storing it in internal memory. Problem solved and kudos to fast response!

Hi,

I've been getting warning messages from my phone saying that storage space is running out and apps won't work.

I've transferred everything I can to SD, and removed most redundant apps - but still have completely full memory due to over 6GB being classified as 'other'. (See below screenshot)

I've trawled through the files in the phone's memory on both FileCommander and my PC, checking the size of every folder - and the only one of any size is Whatsapp (about 900MB).

I'm tearing my hair out a bit - the phone won't indicate where this 5GB of data is saved, it doesn't seem to be saved in any folder I can view - and now the phone is becoming quite slow and unresponsive.

Is there any other way for me to get to the bottom of what's taking up all this space?

As a side note - when I plugged the phone into the PC it gave the disc size as 11GB, not 16GB. is this normal?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Settings > storage > tap on the internal storage > clear cache > repeat few times

Hi uliwooly - thanks for your response.

I've just tried clearing cache 10 times, and it still says 6.28GB under 'Other'.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Jude

Not sure why my post was moved to this topic (appears to be a different issue), but it's not solved (despite the tag on the topic).

Had my phone for a few months now and love it, but this internal storage issue is now getting to the point where I think the phone is no longer practical for me. I have as much as technically possible stored on my external SD card, and whenever an app is updated, I re-transfer it to the SD card. I find myself having to delete apps that I really want just because of space issues. Cache clearance has become a daily toutine where I try to find that extra few slivers of space just so I can update an app. This situation is simply not acceptable for a relatively new phone. It's such a shame as the phone is gorgeous, but tye limitations of space and the inability to move/remove the useless bloatware is bad. Apps keep getting bigger with updates, so the minimal free space that was once there is no longer.

Click on other,  select all

, then delete ,  it includes all.cached,  shared  files on apps
