hi forum just to let you all no, if you send your device for a headphone jack repair under warrenty this could be the result.
as you can see in the pictures you can see the headphone jack with/without the backlight turned on and off. you should not be able to see any of the backlight at all if a genuine replacement part has been used. in my veiw a poor repair and either parts missing or just another part from a different mobile. not happy sony / sbe ltd - can anyone give me a part number for the headphone jack at least, so i can do a better repair myself and get better results.

Unbelievable, new replacement set have uneven screen at bottom left.....
I'm very sorry to hear about your phone and that you've had to send it for repairs several times 
The light that can be seen inside the audio jack is no reason for concern and is not a defect. It's caused by transparent material inside the audio jack reflecting the light from the display.
If the display is protruding you phone needs repairs though. I recommend that you contact your Local support for assistance and also mention that your phone has already been sent to service before.
FYI, that is not were the headphone jack located.

As @Viridis suggested, i recommend that you send it back to the service centre to have this fixed. I'm afraid there's something wrong with your display. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

just to let you all know that as of this date 2016-04-25 from my original posting my phone has been sent back to the repair shop 7 time for the same problem. (the headphone jack becomes loose over time)
so i went on the customer chat on here today and had a chat about my phonem this is what i wrote.

I would like to speak to someone that can give me a replacement handset,because this is the 7th time in 12 months i have had to send this phone back for repair and i not willing to have it repaired again enough is enough. I would like a replacement handset. Or refurbishment to end my current contract with o2 and to get a phone of another manufacturer. If i don't get any satisfactory terms today i will be taking this up with the small claims court.

so i will update this yet again when they update me with information on how to resolve this.
Hi are you sure the light in the audio jack is not a defect because mine is the same I rang Sony support and I was told there shouldn't be a light there?
I've recently sent my phone for the same repair "headphone jack" so far it's an absolutely terrible experience. The phone was sent on the 20/3 delivered on the 21/3 (I could track from the DPD reference). From there the phone was lost at the Maidstone repair center until the 30/3. I called the repair center and contacted Sony via live chat to ask where my phone was and if it's now being escalated, I was told it couldn't be escalated etc. Really bad experience, so I've already written a letter of complaint. If I get the phone back with a substandard repair I will send the phone back. From your pictures I can see the socket is now different and you can see in to the phone, I would be worried it's now effected the water resistant rating etc.

My phone went in for headphone jack replacement but now that i got it back i see what looks like the light of the screen shining through the jack like a torch. Is this normal? wont this effect the water resistance? It doesn't look sealed.
