Hi Everybody,
Long time reader, first time messaging...
I have a Sony Xperia Z5. I have been having some issues with charging over the last fortnight as in the phone not recognising the charger. It takes about 10 goes putting it in for it to start charging.
Then last night wouldnt charge at all. Tried the old volume- and power botton it vibrated and had blue light and red light combo going. Still nothing. Left it overnight. Now when I put the charging in it has a green light that stays on. It doesnt start and nothing else goes on. When charger is disconnected no lights on just 3 red flashes when i press power botton.
I would love some wise advice from all you champions on what to do before I throw it against a wall.
Regards Benji7
Hi @Benji7, sorry to hear about this.
To start with, try opening up the cover for the SIM and SD card slots in your device and press and hold the little OFF button using the tip of a pen for 120 seconds (ignore all vibrations). Charge the device until you see a charging icon on the screen and then try powering on the device.
If you still can't charge/turn the device on, do you have another charger that you can use to charge the device? For example, if a friend, colleague or a family member is also using an Xperia device you can ask them if you can borrow their charger/cable to try and charge your device.
If you have only tried charging it using the wall mounted charger, you can try and charge the device only using the cable via a USB port on a computer.
Should none of the above work, try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.
Do note that this will delete all data stored on the internal storage of the device and since it can't be powered on, you will not be able to create a backup.
Let me know how it goes!
