Phone not detecting micro SD card anymore...

Hello,

I bought my Xperia Z a while ago, and with it, a micro SD card. I've been using the phone (with the sd card inserted) without any problems. I've stored my pictures, music, files, etc. in there and always worked fine.

Yesterday, I got a notification on my phone about a new software update. Once I got home, I had the phone updating only to discover that after it finished, my sd card is no longer detected...

Any help would be appreciated please.

Kind regards,

Fábio Constantino

I wish that Sony would inform its costumer about this problem atleast we could have just put a back up card on the phone and the card that has all the photos and other doc we keep for safety. Or we could run a back up of our files even just once a week. To realize that you've been having this problem and receiving complaints since 2 or 4 years ago is sickening that you're not doing anything to prevent or to even warn your costumers.

This is my second Xperia phone and it has done.it to both phones. There is nothing wrong with the SD card As it works on the computer and in my portable shield.I believe Sony has a software problem with their phones. And resetting the phone does not help either. I will not by another Sony phone.

Card manufacturer will replace the card but u should try to see if another portable device will read it. Also recuva can check your card for lost or corrupted data.

I also experienced a similar problem only that I formatted the SD card in the phone and now it won't mount or recognize it.

Shoud have stuck with the Iphone and strongly reccomend not buying a Sony Xperia to anyone who is thinking of it. Have lost photos and memories that can never be replaced because my SD card fried. Ph carried out automtic update and after that the SD card died.. Money wasted on a contract. Stuck with it for another year yet..

I have the same issue twice
About 4 weeks ago for the 1st time. The sd vard was totally dead. Trying to reading and or formating it failed. Also on a laptop.
I desided to put in a new sd card. After a factory reset. This new card died 2 days ago. Contacted sony support and got the advice to reinstall the z1 via the companion pc software. I took the advice and reinstalled my z1 again.
I have reservations using a new sd card again, as i dont trust that it workes or solves the issue. When replacing mysd card i unmout or powerdown my z1. Once placed i never put it out the sd card from the sd slot.
I can not imagin this is a use fault, i seems to me that its a hardware or software issue by design.
If this keep hapening i might consider getting an other non sony phone. Anyhow i hope they fix it because i really like this sony experia.

And there are many more going years back.

I bought my ZR an year ago since then I had problems with the sd card on every firmware that Sony provided for this phone.

The phone wiped my sd card 4 times or more I don't remember . 2 times I was able to find the music in LOST.DIR folder.

I've learned that if I eject the phone from the computer and then unplug it safely i could avoid this but it also happend one time when I just powered on the phone and the sd card was completely erased.

Another irritating problem (and maybe the reason why this is happening) is the fact that the phone corrupts some files on the SD Card: images, music etc. I've seen people complaining about the fact that the music stops, skips the tracks, music app freezes and then continues - this is caused by corrupted files -I copied them from the sd card to the internal memory and I found out that the files are shorter in size.

This is the third SD Card I changed since I bought this phone and is unusable , it doesn't work on any phone except my zr, tested on nokia lg samsung blackbery and tried to plug it into the computer inside an card reader with no success.

Seeing the fact that even the latest Sony phones have problems with the sd cards I don't see the reason why I should continue with sony.

Same here, an update came through a couple of days ago, allowed it to download and update my phone, took some photos yesterday before getting the error message that the SD card is no longer detected, just checked the SD card in the laptop and it's not recognised. Same thing happened to the wife's phone months ago, also an Xperia Z1.
