Hey guys, I bought the Xperia because of the large screen size and my failing eyesight. I like the phone and it's great for navigation in the car and general use. However I've hit on a problem. One of the things I use my Android phone for is accessing my GoPro cameras. I shoot quite a bit with them and use the phone as the viewfinder and controller. Play Store doesn't show the app on the Xperia so I've tried a number of work arounds including using an emulator to create the apk on my desktop pc, and directly downloading the apk file. On trying to install I get the parse error message (possibly due to incompatability). This seems to be a bit daft since Sony and GoPro are both big brand names and many people use the app to control drone cameras and suchlike.
Has any one else encountered this problem? If so any workaround would be welcome because if I can't run the app on the Xperia I'll be looking for a different phone 😞
Hi @Marshon, welcome to our forum!
Is it the application called just "GoPro" that you are trying to install? According to the Google Play store, this application requires Android 6.0 or later and the Xperia Z Ultras latest Android version is 5.1 and that could be the cause of the application both now showing up and the error you receive when trying to install the apk-file.
Keep in mind that it's up to the developers of an application to make it compatible with as many devices as possible and for more information regarding compatibility and so forth, I would recommend that you get in touch with the GoPro support directly as they should be very well informed about the requirements.
I hope you find this information useful!
Thanks for that. I've sorted it now, had to go back 4 or 5 versions to find one that will run on Android 5.1
Cheers

Hi again @Marshon!
You're very welcome and I'm glad that you found another version of the application that works fine in your device and that is was not locked to Android 6+ only!
Let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with and have a great weekend!
