Yes. I have a time limited and slow shared internet connection. When I start downloading the new Nougat 7.1.1, 32.4.a.1.54 update via phone, after downloading about 100 mb, the download breaks. When I re-download it, my session time gets over.
I can't update via Xperia companion either, for the same reason.
The problem is that, the download channel is unstable. I can download from other download managers 350 mb per session, which is the size of the required update. Or, at least, I can break down and download 100 mb one day, 100 mb another day etc. for other apps. But Xperia update requires to do all at once without interruption. You can not pause the update process.
So, can anyone advise, how can I update in such situation? It could something like fast download, or partial download, anything that can work?
You can temporarily stop software update, for now...
But you can also try clearing any app data and cache... you need to make sure all the system apps are also upto date...
if you are able to download 2GB, you can use Xperifirm to flash the 32.4.a.1.54 when the download completes... and you'll have a permanent copy on PC, instead of incremental update/partial firmware files...
this is why I don't like what Windows did with Windows 10...
those update styles only really work effectively in a closed environment like gaming consoles... or apple products most times
