After having had a happy relationship with a z3 compact, I though a z5 would be a no brainer. Well, it will teach me not to use that term in a hurry!
From day 1 the headphone jack has been dodgy. Plug headphones in and it would spend about a minute flicking between seeing them, dripping out, them back again, etc. This is from out of the box and the phone is just sitting on a desk.
Annoying, but not a fatal flaw, and not enough to be without a phone for a week or two.
Then, a few months later, and for the past 6 months, the mic became useless. The other person would hear me fine for a short while, then suddenly as if I was very far and muffled sound. Unable to hold a conversation. This would sometime be resolved by headphones, but weirdly not always!
Lately, it freezes regularly, and drops calls. After 10 seconds on a call, it just cuts out. ITS A PHONE, IT IS MEANT TO BE ABLE TO CONDUCT A PHONECALL! The dropping of calls has become better lately, but all the rest is still there..
All of that and the fact the battery has become weak, means I have had enough.
The final straw was that the response I got from Sony support was a generic email to keep my phone up to date, etc!! Talk abiut things that are sure to make one move to another manufacturer! Shame, as the z3 was great, but Sony obviously just wanted to wring money out of it!
Someone else suggested going to the dark side, the i-side. I will not do that, but luckily there are plenty if other android manufacturers to choose from!
Also, my brother works for a mobile phone reviewing site, so wittingly or unwittingly, the experience with Sony's support especially has been registered with them
Thanks for allowing me to vent!
