No headphone icon after Nougat update/headphones cut out

The headphone icon has vanished from the notification bar since the android 7.0 nougat update a week ago. Sound still comes out of them, but it cuts out intermittently. The headphones are professional in-ear monitors, work perfectly on other devices and are only 2-3 months old. I had the same issue when testing other headphones.

The headphone jack is not damaged, nor is there any debris or dust inside. In fact, I cleaned it just to be sure and the issue peraists. The phone is in perfect condition and has sustained no shocks.

Sounds like an update issue? I heard the nougat rollout was temporarily suspended due to certain audio issues.

I had this problem before on an HTC device i downloaded an app called soundabout which forces the sounds via what you want try it / did you try another headphone to see if the problem is with the headphone jack or your headphone ?

An app called Soundabout from playstore fixes it but you need to change the output setting every time you use your headphone or phone speaker.

Hi @Jaqen,

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you tried connecting more then one pair of different headphones to your Xperia device? If not i would recommend that you try that.

Also I'd recommend that you reboot your device to safe mode to see if this behavior may be caused by one of your downloaded apps as they will be temporarily disabled in this mode.

Keep me posted on how it goes!

Hello,

I suppose it is a Bluetooth headphone?

If so - have you tried re-pairing the headphone to the phone?

In order the headphone to be discoverable by the phone it is done through a special headphone key combination - have a look at the headphones manual.

Good luck!

Also, disabling and enabling Smart Connect is not enough, you need to refresh the whole app:

- Go to Settings -> Apps -> Smart Connect -> Force stop, Uninstall updates, the go to Storage -> Clear data and restart your phone.
- Go to your Play Store and update Smart Connect again.
