New or old device?

1.5 years ago my first xperia z3 after unboxing had initially android kitkat running.

Yesterday i bought a new Z3 and i noticed that out of the box the device was running marshmallow!! Is this possible or i have a "used" device sold to me as new??

Also the factory protective films front screen and back had many many bubbles inside. I can't remember from my previous z3 if the films were the same or they were glossy and shiny.

is there a service menu that can display the real time of the phone used or maybe its first activation?

thanx

Hi @Antaeus,

If you send me a PM with your IMEI I can see if I can find any information regarding if your new Xperia Z3 has been previously updated. I can't guarantee that I'll find what you are looking for but I will do my best. Slightly_smiling_Face

To find out the IMEI for your device, dial *#06# and a 15 digit number should appear on screen.

But as @nolramlb says, it's a good idea to ask your retailer about this as well.

the best person to answer your question would be the retailer, did you buy it from a reputable one? good reviews? or are they accepting/selling refurbished devices.

also, as far as I know, it is difficult to transfer one device to another user, since the google account would be locked to that specific device. have you tried to input your google account and sync?

if the front and screen protectors have a tab on the edge,, it is meant to be taken off.

I dont know how can you find such information on the service menu, but here it is,you dial *#*#services#*#*

Thank you nolramlb,

yes the seller is very reputable. My concern is if the device was used for hands on/promotion purposes at the store. (I dont know anyone willing to reply honestly to this)

i know also what you mentioned about google account but i think a software repair through xperia companion wipes everything out and then you cannot trace.

my question is on how a brand new xperia z3 came out of the box with marshmallow instead of kitkat.

I mean marshmellow was officialy announced for z3 at maybe April or so?  So my device left the factory after April?

Am i so lucky to get a Z3 so recently produced? Is z3 still on production? Who knows...
