NEED HELP PLEASE Sony Xperia Z3 D6603 won't turn on or charge

I bought Sony Xperia Z3 from Amazon exactly a month ago. The phone doesn't start and won't even charge. The box doesn't include original charger with its power adapter. It contains only headphones and a USB cable which seems to be fake because of the poor quality. The phone may be original but I am very skeptical about that. After searching on the Internet, I think it may be refurbished. When I connect the phone to the computer, the led turns red as if it's charging and the charging logo appears on screen showing that battery is almost dead. Then screen turns black and it continues in that infinite loop. I've tried many things I found on the Internet like holding volume down button and power button together or holding the yellow button in the memory card slot area... etc but nothing seems to get the device working. It's literally a terrible experience.

When I checked the IMEI number on IMEI.info and it says that it is a Sony Xperia D6653. When I tried to update the device from sonymobile.com, I entered the IMEI number and a message prompted saying "Sorry, the information is currently not available. Please try again later.".

If anyone has an idea about this or may have encountered the same problem as mine please unlighten me and thanks in advance.

What a surprise to arrive at the Sony forums and find other people are having the same issue as me.

My xperia Z3 is a year old, from the start it had overheating problems. These were not resolved and I lerned that by powering off and turning on, I could stop the battery drain. This was reported to Sony who suggested, surprise, that a reset might fix the problem. Again surprise, it didn't. I put up with it.

3 weeks ago, the phone wouldn't turn on. I took it back to optus (australia). They sent it back to their repairer. They reported that the phone had a bend in it and as such it wasnt covered under warranty. $680 to pay for the repair.

Phone has not been dropped (not significantly and not in the last month), always kept in protective case, screen is perfect, great care taken. There is no way to challenge the Optus ruling. 12 months left on the plan.

Sony ?

My friend, I'm sorry that I did not get your cell phone back. I helped you the way I could, mine worked the way I explained. Unfortunately Sony support is rubbish! The staff does not help at all in the forum, we are at the mercy of luck.

My cell phone died, resuscitated, died again and is already working again ... Sony US answered my email? Did Sony BR answer my email ?? No. I still state that Sony is the best in the products it offers, but its user support is ridiculous.

Thanks Uliwooly, I initially contacted Sony support twice, then worked around the overheating/discharge problem for a year when the Sony solution didn't work. In hindsight I should have returned the phone a year ago.

When the on/off button stopped working recently, I returned it to the local Optus store (Adelaide, Australia). They sent the phone to the Optus repairer in Sydney, two weeks later they said the issue was due to the phone being bent. No warranty. The phone can be turned on by removing and replacing the SIM and by plugging in the charger. Once it is on the phone works fine. The phone has no apparent damage and has not been dropped or sat on.

I think Optus support have taken a cheap, easy and unhelpful way out. Suggesting the phone is bent, they are asking $680 to replace the handset.

Poor phone, poor support from both optus and from Sony imo. Both Sony and Optus have lost me as a customer. I am now cautioning other people about the phone and Optus.

Thanks for your suggestion.

you have to dismount front and back panels! (this phone is not really water proof, it's clear that you loose this feature after dismount).

retrieve the 5 screws, the black carter ant try to push on the battery connector in the bottom of the phone (a 2 on 3 mm wide connector). i think the problem comes from the disconnect.

i was concerned by this failure after a drop of my smartphone.
