Motion and gestures

I've just bought this phone and have changed from Samsung. There were a few features on my old phone which I can't find on this one and I would like to know if they are available. They're mainly to do with phone gestures. They are as follows
1) when the alarm clock sounds, turn the phone over to snooze it
2) when the screen is covered it turns the screen off. If I put it into my pocket for example
3) be able to change the screen brightness from the quick pull down access panel.
Think that's all for now but if anyone can help that would be great, thanks

1) The best you have is Smart Call Handling - only Calls. If you want the Samsung stuff for other Sounds/Notification and Device Sensor interaction, you'll need a 3rd party app.

2) You can get "Tasker" or another Automation App - and it will be able to do this, and do (1).

I'm tempted to try another app other than tasker at the moment - as I feel like something fresh... For new users, Tasker can be a bit daunting, because unless you find a good tutorial, the UI isn't as friendly as the other Apps available now.

... Smart Lock is built in, and works in the opposite way, it detects when you have the phone with you, and can keep it unlocked.

When you have apps that start changing Screen On and Screen Off, I recommend checking Accessibility Settings, and make sure that "Power Button Ends Call" is Off. This way, you will always be able to turn the screen back on, incase an app fails, or sensors fail, and you are on a call, and the screen goes black.

3) If you're on Nougat, Swipe down, and swipe down again. Brightness Level Bar should appear.

Probably not just Nougat, and everything from Lollipop and Up.

Samsung Smart Stay == Sony Smart backlight Control

Welcome to Sony, where your phone will be less filled with proprietary apps, like Samsung.

My last Samsung was a XCover 2, on 4.1.2 where 400MB of my 1GB storage was used before I even started using the phone. So I don't quite know what else is available on the new gen... aside from some of the Voice stuff, and side bar.

Thanks Neo

Only just read this as ive been playing with it. I will look into tasker and see if its ok or if there are any other similar task apps.

Youre right about Samsungs been filled with nonsense though, Sony is nowhere near as bad. Still have to go through though and turn all apps off to make the battery last for the day but thats stupid apps for ya.

Thanks again

There's an app called macrodroid and automate, one of them creates flow charts for you to work with. I haven't played with them yet as I've been busy getting a recovery to work with nougat and wiping my IMEI and retrieving it in lollipop

@NeoBeumI tried and made the C5 ultra working with motions and gestures. I didn't try with the X or the Z3 but I am sure it will work fine.. Only problem is that it consume a bit of battery 😕

Did you restrict gaps for polling time for sensors when the screen is off? I haven't played with tasker stuff for a long time, so I've forgotten quite alot.
