I had problem with mic - people couldn't hear me, because my voice was very quiet. Then I switched off mic noise suppression and everything was fine. Until update to 6.0.1. Now I have the same problem. And I can't switch off mic noise suppression, because this option is simply missed.
Any ideas how to fix this now? Or I should downgrade to previous android version?
UPD: may,19. Sony market topic as solved. But it isn't really solved at the moment. They will roll out an update in "upcoming weeks". And because we still have the same problem, I unmarked topic as solved. As soon as we will have the noise suppression option back and this will really help us - then I will return the solved mark.
UPD 2: In. 575 version the noise suppression function is back. People can hear me again. Thanks, Sony
Solved! Go to Solution.
Same problem for me ! Phone calls quality is very very bad now
Please, add the ability to disable noise suppresion in marshmallow !
I have the same problem too.... Please solve it
Me too.
So frustrating after finally working out how to turn off the noise suppression. I really dont want to have to root the phone.
FIX THIS ASAP PLEASE SONY!!!!!!
Same here, people can't make any sense of my mumbling voice unless my phone is set to speaker mode or when i'm using speaker headphones. Covering up the upper microphone (that microscopic hole near the headphone jack) helps a little... Starting in safe mode did'nt help at all. How on earth can a huge company like Sony destroy their own phones via flawed firmware updates? I'm really really pissed off!!!
My phone is white D5803 x3z.
Would be maybe useful if they could notice that this is affecting a certain buildweek of the white version or something
I am not a phone engineer, audio processing engineer or android developer. I might be wrong in all of the stuff I write. I test stuff in a practical manner and see what it produces.
I've always had this issue on my phone and was able to get rid off it by disabling noise cancellation/suppression.
The difference between having noise cancellation
enabled - nobody could hear me in actual calls
disabled - "crystal clear", "perfect" were the adjectives used.
Now that it is back with the latest android update, I did some practical tests what might be causing the issue.
So my understanding on the noise cancellation on here is that the phone uses 2 mics to filter out some of the "unwanted noise".
I downloaded sony audio recorder which allows you to record mono/stereo modes and decided to compare those two.
Mono is clear, stereo is crackling. I noticed that the cracking is almost absent if I put the phone on the table - any touching of the phone - speficically touching the screen produces a loud noise in the recording.
The voice prosessing could try to lower the high volume spikes and bundled with noise cancellation, it could lower the actual sent volume on phone calls due to these spikes.
You can also get the same result from the service menu tests (but it won't be a "stereo"). Under service tests, secondary mic.
Does noise cancellation use mono recording (=disables secondary mic)?
I will be taking mine to service center and report that the mics are getting interference from other components causing the phone to be unusable for calling.
Tape fix does not do anything, the interference comes from touching the phone, disabling "ok google" - nope, pcc fix does not work, tried it multiple times in the past. Factory reset did nothing.
edit: added info about reinstalling / pcc fix / voice "ok google" disabling / tape "fix"
Hi,
It seems my Z3C suddenly started experiencing similar problems as with the well-known "microphone noise suppression" fault of previous releases. I can hear perfectly, but the person on the other end hears a very quiet "windy" etc. distorted voice. The device has become practically useless as a phone, again. The fault does not lie in the microphone, as I've done the diagnostic tests and tried various recording apps, and all work perfectly. Hence it seems to be 100% certain, that it's a software fault.
Moreover, the setting for said "noise suppression" is no longer there in the current firmware, so that solution is not viable any more.
Surely someone else has noticed the same problem?
I wonder, is it possible to revert back to an earlier firmware?
