Light sensor with Z5 compact and style cover

Hi,

Style cover with z5 compact covers the light sensor so that in bright daylight the window of the cover is totally useless since the phone thinks it is dark and keeps the screen light to minimum.

Would drilling a small hole for the light sensor help or does the style cover actually deactivate the sensor altogether?

Has anyone actually done it?

are you talking about

Style Cover Window SCR44?

i supposed it doesnt work that way. since the phone knows it is inside a case i think it disables light sensor, unless the cover is opened. In nougat update, there is a settings to adjust screen brightness while in cover. I suggest you wait for the update for z5 series before attempting to modify your cover.

I found this also very frustrating, i actually did cut out a part where the sensor is... What it did was when closing the Cover it goes to the maximum light setting you set in the slider,  so it is a sort of fix,  now i can still use auto brightness and set brightness to lowest or middle setting (i think the sensor still won't work when closing the lid) But better than that stupid thing darkening your screen. Downside is of course that you damage this pricy cover. But it looks still okay if you dont cut or screw like a maniac 😛 let me know if theres another fix, i found it very weird that sony made it this way.
