Left earplug wont play music

Hello! i got my brand new xperia z1 last tuesday and it has been working really good! but i tried to play some music on it on my way home yesterday and it wouldnt play any sound on the left ear side, which i thought was strange so i looked over at options and tried to figure it out but no luck. when i got home i tried switching between other headsets and earplugs to test if it was just that one, but it didnt work either. any tips?

They are very bad, i bought a Sennheiser CX985 because the ones provided by Sony in a 650€ phone are terrible.

I've NEVER touch the earphone since the day one, still using the original s3 earphone since it still functional, guess it's better stay that way...

Bumping this thread. I have exactly the same problem. Did you manage to fix it?

If you have the same problem as above, please follow all the steps as outlined by Uliwooly and if this does not work then you may also need to return your handset so that it may be assessed by an authorised repair agent.

I have only recived my phone 1 week ago and for the first few days everything was going great, then on Monday the left side of my earphones stopped working, have tried two sets that both work fine in other devices, i have tryed resets and continuously pulling the jack in and out but nothing seems to work.

Is there a quick fix for this issue or does the phone need to be sent in for repairs?

Installed this app >>JAYS Headset Control<< and both ears started to function, then un-installed it and they both still work! Coincidence?

Hi, i got my Xperia Z1 3 days ago and noticed the left earphone, on the side of the button, isnt working. The other side is working perfectly. Ive tried it with a different set of headphones and it still isnt working. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whats wrong or any solutions? Looking it up, mabye it might be a problem with the Smart Connect?

I am having the same problem, I bought my phone 3 days ago and never tried the earphones before today. The short side isn't working but only when I use the my experience. The same handset works on other phones. Is this a software or hardware problem? I just updated the os but unfortunately I never tried the earphones before upgrading the software
