Hi @Daishi

I suggest you to first run a backup of the device information like this:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/Backup-amp-Transfer/m-p/407253#U407253

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion:

http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

This will factory reset your phone and erase all data. You might need tocharge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device). Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP.

In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone -> Start on Update the phone/tablet software -> Repair phone/tablet (the blue
clickable link in the message) -> Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.

Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

If it's not possible to perform this software repair, you could check the following FAQ topic regarding USB connection problems:

Hi @Daishi

Try press the 3 buttons Power, Volume down and Volume up for about 8 seconds and then release them, the Sony logo should appears.

Also you can try connect your device to a wall charger and then press and hold power & volume up for more than 10 seconds.

Another thing to check is plugging the usb cable to the computer as you hold the volume down key.

Hi xavinux,

thanks for your advice, but unfortunately none of them helps.

When i pressed the 3 buttons without any cable attached nothing happened. If i attache the usb cable and press these 3 buttons the phone vibrates and nothing happened.

If i connect the device to a wall charger it starts a reboot loop. The Sony Logo appears after that follows AndroidRedTriangle.jpg

with the error message and then rebooting again. When i press these 2 buttons for more than 10 seconds the phone vibrates several times and then follow the reboot loop.

Plugging the usb cable to the computer by holding the volume key down just let the LED blinking first red and then green.

Any other advices?

Best Regards,

Daishi

Hmm it is hard to do a backup when PC Companion doesn't recognize the phone anymore.

Do you have any idea how to backup without PC Companion?

Otherwise i have to deal with it, because i was a fool not to backup before updating.

Sorry mate, if you can't boot your device then it's quite hard to take a backup of your data. Anything on the internal memory will be lost upon performing a Phone Repair via PC Companion. Your SD card content will still be safe even if u keep it insterted while you repair.

A brick is a brick. These stock Support answers to wipe data so that a magical fix can occur during a factory reset are getting repetitive. Sony PC Companion is of little use if the phone is not recognized. In this case, unless the user has installed a recovery mod and has a back up, there is little he can do. If I read the Z3C tech community posts correctly, SONY does not have a stock recovery mode built in. There are some tips over at XDA for using flashtool, but I don't want to void the user's warranty. I hope I am wrong about this, but it may require a conversation with SONY tech support in your region. Best of luck.

@kevlar_heart using flashtool won't void your warranty, unless you unlock your bootloader or root your phone.

Now i have time for some results.

I wasn't able to backup my data. Fortunately most of my data was stored on the SD-Card.

The system repair by using PC Companion worked for me. Thanks for that advice.

@kevlar_heart I have to say that the phone was recognized by the pc and with a special driver i had access to the phone with the fastboot tool. But my bootloader is locked so it was useless for me.

I had read about flashtool, but i thought it wouldn't support my phone. With that hint it seems that i would have had the chance to recover the phone without any data loss.

Now it's too late. The phone works again. I have lost some data, fortunately not so important data. Next time i'll do a backup before i'll update.
