Is it normal for settings to be shut down by itself?

Hi everyone. Sometimes my phone displays a notification that ( unfortunately Settings has stopped ) though I haven't been using my phone for a long time.

Is it normal that settings stop by itself ? Is using some apps may cause this?

Thanks.

Different things so to reset Settings open Settings then Apps then swipe to All then locate and open Settings then tap Clear cache and Clear data then reboot and test and sorry to say Android isn't like a Pc with a big box saying what and where an issue is

Often the cause is a software glitch or an app that has a glitch (Compatibility or conflicting issue) - Sometimes a settings reset will fix this or a more drastic measure is a complete system repair NOT a factory reset

Thank you Thommo. Is there any way to check which app/apps may cause this glitching issue. Is a settings reset like -reset app preferences. If not how to reset settings? Does a system repair wipe out all apps on my phone or not?

Thanks again.

Thank you again Thommo. Can you please tell me what would happen if I CLEAR DATA for settings? I mean am I going to lose the whole settings for my phone, like for example how I've organised my phone/ accounts etc...

Thanks again.

Quite possibly yes - It will reset every setting you made like sounds, ringtones etc etc, It will be like stock but keep your files
