Exchange ActiveSync, “Could not open connection to server”

Hi,

Sony Xperia Z1 unable to open connection to Exchange Server unless connected to internal office WiFi.

It's like it can't resolve the mail server name by DNS.

However I also tried putting the mail server ip address in directly to the server name field and it still won't connect.

Any ideas as we have been having major Exchange issues with this phone ever since purchase but it's worse now since the 4.4.2 upgrade.

Email account works fine on Note 3 and iPhones. - Also works fine on Z1 with Touchdown installed so is a definate Sony issue.

Thanks.

Guys, any clue on how to resolve this issue as it started of all of a sudden. no changes on the exchange, as confirmed by our admin, and no changes on the phone!!

I recommend that you first try to remove the account from the phone and then try to add it again.

If this doesn't help, could you check if the same thing happens on both WiFi and mobile data?

If you have alot of emails i your account i recommend that you don't select the option for synchronizing all emails when you add it.

Had real problems connecting to exchange server - all settings were ok and as per old xperia- resolution : there seemed to be a conflict between Skype and setting up the account which was resolved by uninstalling skype and Bob's your uncle !

And if that doesn't help to resolve the issue with your corporate mail:

1. Go to your Excahnge Administrator.

2. Ask him to remove your Android mobile device affected from your mailbox.

3. Let your Android mobile device to sync and get past the initial e-mail synchronization.
