Camera quality and heating issues

Hi Guys & Gals,

Im sure there are plenty of threads about either the heating issues or camera issues of the phone, but Id still like to post a thread and find out if anyone has these specific issues I have.

Heating (My biggest concern) - Before I continue I know that playing games, taking photos, recording video, web browing etc all generates heat when being used constantly. So according to an video on youtube the phones suppose to record video for a few hours. Now the issue with that video is that the camera isnt necessarily receiving any data from what it suppose to view (It shows black which is no data really) so that to me might help it record for such a long time.

Now my issue with the heating of my Z5. 4K overheats within 3 - 5mins. That is fine by me and understand that (I still think it should record for at leats 30mins before overheating let me know what you guys think) When recording in 1080p 30fps or 1080p 60fps my phone overheats under 5 - 8mins. Is this normal? I dont think it should be. Ive owned almost every Sony device going as far back as the w550i and further back even and been a major fan of sony products. The only phones I never owned were Z2 & Z3 cause the Z1 I owned was still brilliant. I skipped those cause they werent a huge jump in tech so thought id jump onto the Z5 cause it felt viable at the time. Why is this phone so bad? Can it really be the processor that is messing around? I mean I was at a restaurant with my wife and she has a Huawei P7 (with sony camera lens ofcourse) and she could even record video at such a better lowlight it was shocking. You could hardly see anything on my phone compared to hers. Also my phone overheated within 6mins of use while hers went on for a good 20mins with no heat issues. I find that the other issue is the camera. In great light the camera takes AMAZING photos, but lowlight...omg... I just dont understand why its so smudgy, noisy and has a huge loss in detail. Im deeply disappointed in my Z5 because honestly her Huawei P7 performed a lot better with her camera in lowlight and no overheating at all. I mean I cant even play games for 5 mins without the phone getting so hot that I can even touch the phone properly. Its uncomfortable to use. All this power. Great camera and yet it doesnt do much of what is advertised. For those of you who doesnt have these issues... you are freaking lucky.

Im sad and irritated that for so long Ive been a fan and now Im left with a phone that overheats so quickly. Heats up to 70 degrees celcius (158F) where id have to blow my phone cold or place it on cold surfaces just to reduce that sort of heat. This is my final Sony phone. I dont see myself buying anymore of their phones.

This phone cost me R600 ($40) a month on contract and I feel is a total waste. Im a lover of taking lots of photos, video and gaming and well... the phone just unfortunately doesnt do much for me considering this overheating issues I have.

Sorry for the long rant, but I just felt that I needed to put this out there.

Ill try and update my thread with screenshots of the heat this phone generates and the quality of the photos (at full res) so you can see what I mean. How hot does your phone get guys?

You are correct there are many threads about theses problems, so you should expect this one to be locked quite soon.

Don't worry, you're not alone... Sony has a lot of work to do on the software/firmware side (Marshmallow) to make the Z5 keeps the promises they sold us back in October.

I have a big problem with my z5 6653 with the camera, practically after a couple of minutes I go to block telling me that the phone has overheated and comes out of the program. Does anyone know if there is a solution? Thanks in advance

This weekend I was recording a ceremony which is importants for us and our society partners. My telephone could not reach internet, though no warning came. After 10 minutes the warning of lens overheating appeared. I stopped video and take out the phone protection silicone. When I tried to wath the video I saw it was corrupted. 2GB of video was now a trash. SO. Sony by all means are no go company for me. I experienced some similar issues with Sony video recorders and camcorders, now I am done. If it fails for some other reason I will buy Samsung. Sorry and by by Sony!
