Hello there,
So i have had 2 sony smartphones now, my first was the Xperia Sola, had no problems except lags due to less ram, then i got Xperia Z and it too faced no problems (except overheating) though there were so many complaints reported on the internet so i guess i was either lucky or by the time i bought it sony had improved their build quality. Anyways, i had it in a pool a few days back, it was working great but then it blacked out because i accidently took it to around 5m depth (my fault). I just want to say that i really like and perhaps love sony
I really like their designs and the fact that after a small waiting period, the price drops and you get great features for a comparatively low price. I was planning on getting a Z2 now but it seems that it even has more problems. There's the overheating problem which seems to have further increased, some people report gaps and there's a fear it may void its waterproofness (if that's a word), flaps seem to pop open automatically after some days of usage and well there's lots more as well. Now i really do like the design and UI of sony phones but seeing how the problems are increasing rather than decreasing, i'm worried now. Should i go for it or change to samsung or HTC perhaps? (keep in mind that currently, i cannot even imagine myself holding a non-sony phone)
Thankyou for your time.

Of course Sony is working on it. It just haven't reach all consumers yet. At keast that;s the case with the over heating during video recording. On 438, I manage to record past 1 min with the phone getting warm, but had to stop it due to work. lol. Previously the phone would get hot at about 30 secs and would sut doen the app before 1 min.
As for Facebook, I wouldn't know. I hardly use FB on my phone. What more FB videos.
I have owned way to many phones lol I started with the Samsung Nexus flagship smart phone loved it. Then switched to the Iphone 4S way to many issues for what my needs were. Then the Nexus 4 this phone was good but issues with shutting off during calls among many others. I now own the Xperia Z2 love it the most out of all smart phones that have gone through my hands. The pictures are perfect I have a tremor in my hands and it still captures a non blurry image no other phone could. The programs are exactly what I need in regards to work and everyday life. I highly recommend this phone...
ALL phones have flaws.
I've owned the following previously and barely one has been without problems minor or not:
HTC Google G1, HTC Hero, Nexus One, Nexus S, HTC Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy SII, HTC Sensation, Galaxy Nexus, HTC One X, Nexus 4, HTC One, Nexus 5
Would it stop me recommending them, in some cases yes but not always.
As for the Z2, yes some have small gaps around the screen - would you notice them if you weren't looking? Probably not.
My camera is fine it doesn't over heat and pictures are excellent, the screen is great, the speakers are better than average.
The call quality is not great, but if you switch off the EQ then it is more than bareable.
The music player/Walkman software is excellent.
My only gripe is the paint seems easy to wear off.
Out of all the phones that I've ownded when new, I loved the G1, Nexus1, Nexus S and Nexus 5. You can add the Z2 to the list.
People on forums who have problems with their device will always call out loudest...
Thanks a lot bro! It has really helped me to retain peace of mind with the idea of buying it. Gonna get it as soon as i get the money (in about a month
)
It really helps to know there are happy people with their Z2's as well. On forums, only those write who have problems because others dont have the need to tell how happy they are with it. Gonna get Z2 in about a month
Like I said it's a balance, there's rarely been a phone without a trade off.
For most of the Nexus phones, the camera's were poor.
I loved the Galaxy Nexus but the battery life was appalling.
The Nexus 5 was great but mine had a little bit of light bleed from the corner of the screen.
The Nexus 4 glass back shattered easily.
The HTC One M7 had gaps in the construction (again I only noticed when I was looking)
etc
etc
Out of all the phones I've listed, only the HTC Desire HD went back to the store a few days later, due to utterly abysmal battery life.
My advice is to go and play with one in a shop and compare to others you may like and see how you like the look and feel of the device.
